The idea that putrefaction led to resurrection, growth, and change had profound implication for the way that people from 1500-1700 organized their living spaces, approached medical cures, and thought about death. She will focus on three lines of inquiry: the movement of the dead through often crowded urban spaces (graves), the belief that the dead were with you in important ways (ghosts), and finally the traffic in mumia and corpses for purposes of creating medicines to heal the body of living patients.
